Uttarakhand Relief Project of Distribution of Cooking Stoves to Flood Victims

Disaster most of the times proves as another opportunity for Rotarians to serve and care. With the news about thousands of people affected by heavy flood in Uttarakhand Region, DG Dineshsinh Thakor approached his batch mate DG Rakesh Aggarwal of RID 3080 and offered to provide Improved Biomass Cooking Stoves for the beneficiary victims. DG then assigned RC Bhavnagar Royal to work upon the same as the club has recently completed the similar kind of Matching Grant Project. PP Himal Pandya and AG Deval Zala accepted the challenge and within no time, we were able to receive contribution of Rs. 8,19,476/- from many different clubs and Rotarians of our district.
On the very first day of Holy month of Shraavan, DG Dineshsinh had flagged off the truck loaded with 1231 cooking stoves. PDG Pradeepsinh Gohil, DS Sandeep Shah and many Rotarians were present. The truck will reach to Dehradun on 13th August and from there, two small trucks will be sent to Uttarkashi and Rudraprayaag. Rotarians of RC Saumya Uttarkashi and RC Dehradun will volunteer at respective stages. AG Deval Zala along with few other volunteers of our district will personally visit the places and accompany the local Rotarians in effective distribution to the beneficiaries.
We humbly thank our new member Rtn. Dr. Bharat Nakrani for very kind support in the project by contributing Rs. 1,04,000/- on behalf of his school students and management. It is a real example of Service Above Self. In reciprocation of this gesture, our club board has decided to gift a PHF Recognition to Dr. Bharatbhai.
